STRETCHING
This process can be time consuming to achieve an accurate finish. The work is folded around a piece of acid free lined board, the work is then stretched by lacing the Aida at the back of the board and gradually stretching and straightening it until the picture / pattern looks ‘square’.
When stitching your pattern / picture please bear in mind the following.
••Always centralise your work on the Aida
••Allow enough Aida for stretching i.e for the pattern + any space required around the pattern + an overlap for the mount + enough Aida to go round the back of the board. Ideally a good amount is at least 3” / 75mm all round.
••The better the stitching i.e. even tension, the better finish I can get.
••Tuck in loose ends of cotton as they will show through the Aida
••Make sure any beads or ornaments are firmly secured.
••If necessary clean the finished work.
